About CYO Basketball
CYO Basketball provides Youth Basketball in the Utica, NY area and it is a program of Catholic Charities Oneida/Madison County. CYO provides youth the opportunity to play basketball in a league that promotes a positive culture that is safe and where there is respect between all involved including players, coaches, fans, officials, and CYO Staff.

CYO Basketball 2026/2027 SEASON: All games this season will be held at the JCC in Utica, NY on Fri, Sat, and a few Thurs.

CYO season: Runs from December 12 2026- March 12th 2027 with a few Thurs nights mixed in. CYO will not play on the weekends of 12/25, 1/1, and Presidents Weekends 2/13 and 2/19.
TEAM Applications will be accepted in October and November 2026. Please know that players that play school basketball from 9th grade - 12th grade are not allowed to play CYO. CYO has 3 leagues for 6-8th graders, 9th-12th Graders, and a 2nd - 5th grade biddy bball division for this 2026/2027 season.
SPORTSMANSHIP: SPORTSMANSHIP, RESPECT, & SAFETY ARE CRUCIAL TO CYO. WE PLAY WITHIN THE RULES. NO INTENTIONAL FOULS. NO TRASH TALKING. NO VERBAL HARASSING ANYONE AT ANY TIME. WE PLAY HARD AND TOUGH DEFENSE AND PLAY GOOD BASKETBALL BUT WE DO SO WITHIN THE BOUNDS OF THE RULES AND WITHIN THE BOUNDS OF FAIR PLAY. IF YOU GET FOULED OR A REF CALLS SOMETHING YOU DON’T AGREE WITH, YOU DON’T RESPOND ON THE COURT. YOU LET YOUR COACH KNOW AND ALLOW YOUR COACH THE OPPORTUNITY TO RESPOND. IF PARENTS HAVE CONCERNS PLEASE LET COACHES AND/OR CYO STAFF KNOW. THERE IS NO REFEREEING FROM THE BENCH OR FROM THE STANDS.

NO MORE TECHNICAL FOULS!
(Please don't be a contributing factor to getting your team kicked out of the league)
Referees are trained to give technicals for any Unsportsmanlike conduct.
Notes on Technical Fouls:
If a player receives a tech the player must sit length of 1 quarter (8 Min) and it will continue into the next game if there are less than 8 min left in a game.
If a player receives 2 techs in a game, player receives a 1 game suspension.
If a player receives 3 technical fouls in a season, then the player must petition for reinstatement as that player is no longer eligible for CYO.
If a team receives 5 technical fouls the coaches must meet with CYO to review every technical foul and your remedies to prevent this behavior from continuing. CYO makes the final decision on whether your team continues after receiving 5 technical fouls.
If a team receives their 5th technical foul: The game is forfeited immediately by team committing 5th technical foul and that team cannot continue in CYO till that team's coach meets with CYO.

Jr. High games: Fri nights 620 PM games and Sat mornings 850 AM games. 1 game per week.
The little kids division (grades 2-5) every Fri at 5 PM

Admission cost $2.00 (13 and under free, players and coaches are always free)
All coaches/volunteers 18 and over must attend Safe Environment Training and receive a background check. Please click link for more info on an upcoming training.
